You've mentioned "straight to voicemail" happening when your son calls you, and when you call your son.

It's the recipient of the call who has the issue, and it may affect all incoming calls, depending on the cause.

An unconditional "divert all calls" would indiscriminately affect all incoming calls. Otherwise if only specific callers are affected, it would be consistent with that number having been blocked.

@catrin007 : It's normal voice calls that can go to VM. WhatsApp isn't a voice call. It uses data & can't go to VM.

Hi @catrin007

Welcome to the community.

What kind of phone is your son using? Could you check the blocked call list on his phone, to see if your numbers have inadvertently been put on the list?
