Hi @gingerbread01

Welcome to the community.

Did the eSIM register OK? Is it showing an EE signal at the top of the screen?

Chris

Hi,

yes both registered ok I can use 5G but not message or call or receive verification texts

@gingerbread01 Thanks for confirming the SIM is activated and showing signal. iPad's do not have the ability to make/receive SMS messages or make network calls. You should be able to use iMessage or Facetime though for messages and calls and you can setup SMS forwarding from a linked iPhone.

Which number is it you are trying to setup as the contact number for those services, is it the dedicated iPad number or your actual mobile number? Is it saying it is specifically sending a message for verification or does it just show verifying number in the Settings> Messages> Send and receive section?

If you have an iPhone and both the iPhone and iPad are signed in on the same Apple ID you can enable SMS forwarding so that you can see SMS sent to your phone number on your iPad. Forward text messages from your iPhone to other devices - Apple Support

Alex

It’s the numbers I got given with the iPad and it don’t send or receive(verifications codes)

I’ve only got the   2 iPads no iPhones I am new to apple, I have spoken to apple they said it is a carrier issue which is EE

Hi @gingerbread01

I've found some helpful information on Apple's website about how to set up your iPad to receive authentication codes.

Have you tried this yet by any chance?

Linzi

Hi I have just tried this and still nothing

Hi @gingerbread01

Thanks for coming back to us and for trying this.

Is the plan you have for the iPad a data only plan?

Are you connected to WiFi?

If not, do you have EE signal showing?

Leanne 🙂

It's unlimited data, unlimited calls and texts.

There's 5G data with 3/4 bars I'm using over the wifi as I always prefer using what I pay for.

I'm new to apple so unsure what the issue is here.

I think you have to have an iPhone on your Apple account for it to work, you can't use the number on the eSIM in an iPad for imessage or Facetime.

I think this thread explains it, whilst a few years old, still seems to be valid.
