Using phone in Florida, usa

Both me and my sister have roaming activated and have purchased roam abroad pass but we can't use our phones. It appears network operator auto selection chooses at&t but then says connected but no calls. If we select T-Mobile as the operator then roaming works. Unfortunately there is hardly any T-Mobile network available in Florida. Why aren't customers advised that for 90% of the time they will be unable to use their phones. Why can't we roam on at&t? I'm really annoyed about this because I need to stay in contact with the uk

What device are you guys using? Was recently in Florida and roaming worked fine for me on AT&T & T-Mobile.

Mine is a Samsung S20 and my sister is using Samsung s7. Both have roaming set and as I say roaming works when we select t mobile but there is not mobile network available around titusville FL, Kennedy, FL, satellite beach FL, at Augustine FL, Edisto Beach, SC and parts of the city of Charleston,SC. It's very frustrating. The explanation on one of the threads says 2&3g have been switched off by AT&T so we can use 4g but with no calls or text. What use is that? And why aren't we bring advised of this before we pay out for roaming packages. I've been coming to Florida for over 20 years and never had a problem till now. And up till COVID I had a Samsung s7 and that worked too.

Yes thanks. We've both tried restarting several times and checked all roaming etc. We both worked for BT so know the drill bit I really believe it is what another thread States that the phones naturally pick up at&t signal but as they only have 4g with no calls or text for to compatibility issues whatever that means. The US network providers seen to be blocking UK IMEI phones from accessing certain things. My sister tried buying a us SIM and that doesn't work cause her IMEI is UK. We are going backwards with technology. Thanks for your replies though 👍

Still not had a suitable reply to this. Neither of us can use our phones unless we specifically select T-Mobile and their network appears very sketchy in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas. Why can't we use at&t for calls and text

Does this happen in all areas for both you and your sister?

I would recommend reporting this to our technical care team who can complete a full diagnostics for you.
