Using phone abroad after you've arrived

Hello

My daughter has gone to Spain but didn't text ROAMING to 150 before she left the UK.
Does this mean her phone won't work for the duration of the trip?
Is there anything we can do?

Thanks!

You used to be able to do it activate it through My EE
https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/

I think from memory its in the Account Settings/Control Content section.

Not sure if your daughter's phone is on pay as you go, but I'm almost certain roaming is enable automatically on pay as you go.

The facility to enable roaming via the website isn't currently available.

If your daughter is on PAYG - her phone was auto-enabled when she first used it in the UK

If she's on pay-monthly, the account holder will now need to call EE CS to enable roaming. Use either +44 7953 966250 from another phone, or 0800 0798586 from a web-calling app such as Skype.

Hi there

Thanks for your help. I spoke to an EE operator today. We have a partial solution. My daughter can receive calls and texts on a local network, but she can't call out. Any idea why? Mobile data is working now, so at least we can communicate that way.

That would suggest either a local network issue, or a call bar is active.

Manually changing networks should resolve the former, CS would have to advise on the latter.

Many thanks - we'll try that!
