Network

I have just arrived in Buenos Aires, and my data roaming doesn’t work. I believe this is due to the network either being down or not working. I haven’t received a welcome to Argentina text today either. My contract states i have no data costs abroad, therefore, why does my network not work or my data. Also, when will it work as i will need this asap for the trip? Impossible to talk to ee without network too.

@Dan98__ : Can you make calls & texts?

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before leaving UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad. Not receiving a Welcome text upon arrival is indicative of you not having done this.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. using a web-calling app over WiFi.

The previous reply covers most of the standard stuff, but I'm going to pick up a couple of specific bits, to highlight parts of the general advice to focus on..

Data roaming means using mobile data whilst roaming. So can you roam in the first place? Forget what your contract or plan allowance gives you, for a service to function needs the ability in-place.. for which your contract is immaterial.

You mention not having received a welcome text message, so I'll use part of my standard response to similar queries to push the relevant point...

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks. Now refer to the previous post....

Which has already covered the same ground in diff words that give OP specific actions to do or should have done.
