Using gifted data in Portugal

Hi there,

I currently have a SIM add on for my mum to use and each month I gift her 20GB data. She’s going to Portugal and I’ve enabled roaming on her phone with a spend cap of £20 as it’ll cost £2.29 (she’s only going for 4 days).

My question is, her original data plan is 1GB, can she still continue to use her gifted data (20GB) like she does here, but just in Portugal. As I do have roaming enabled on her device.

Not sure if it’s a stupid question, just want to make sure before she screams that she doesn’t have data to use 😂

Hi @itsamieemarie

Welcome to the community.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your question. The daily roaming charge would allow your Mum to use her UK allowance in the EU. If you have gifted her data, she'll be able to use that as part of her allowances, as long as she is paying the daily rate.

On her device? But do you have roaming activated on her MyEE a/c? That what's necessary to use a device abroad. Normally it's done by texting ROAMING to 150 from the device concerned whilst still in UK.
