Using £30 30 day EE 100GB SIM in EU countries with US-based iPhone

My son is now in Paris and heading to Spain and Portugal and has been able to use his £30 30 day EE SIM that he acquired in Slough in his US-based iPhone with no problem for data only as well as iMessage. He really only needs Internet access and has plenty of data left from 2 of these SIMS (200GB since he renewed once). But I'm confused about roaming in EU countries. Does this SIM allow roaming in the EU for text and data? And will this be the same when he is in Barcelona or Lisbon?

Thanks to anyone who has the answer!

Yes, As yet EE haven't introduced any charges for PAYG users to use their UK allowances in the EU. EE has not yet announced if & when they may start. So you may continue to use your pack allowances in EU as before w/out charge.

Awesome! Thank you for your reply - very helpful indeed. He has another few days in Europe before he returns to the US.

For any visitors from the US thinking of using an EE SIM during your journey, these EE SIMs have worked very well for us! You will change your telephone number of course, but during our trip we were able to make unlimited calls within the UK, unlimited texts and had plentiful data to use. Our son and daughter are using the 30 day £30 SIM without contract, which gives them 100GB of data. My wife and I used a 14 day £20 SIM with 30GB of data that was plenty also.

The only downside we could see with the EE SIM cards was that without a contract, there was no connection in the Tube in London, which we had heard was an advantage with EE. Other than that detail, I'd highly recommend these EE SIM cards. But you won't find them at Heathrow or at kiosks at other airports. Look for them at EE locations in downtown London or other cities, including Slough where our son was staying. Just use the store locator on the EE website.

There are no 14-day SIM packs. All are 30-day.

You may use EE U-ground WiFi on PAYG having topped up at least £5 that month.

Ah interesting! Just a lower amount of data. Thanks for the clarification.
