Sim card not working

We are currently in Lanzarote and all of sudden the sim card we are using is saying emergency calls only and can't do anything with it

Were you able to use your SIM card in Lanzarote previously or has it not worked since you arrived?

Are you using a pay as you go or pay monthly plan?
