Hi all
I'm not paying extra for roaming, because that's basic theft.
I have my spend cap set at zero, so can I safely leave my phone connected while abroad to receive any texts? What will happen to people who call me?
Previously I've been charged for things even though my spend cap is set to zero, which is utter bs.

The spend cap will not prevent all charges being incurred, but chargeable calls & texts are covered. If you are roaming, the only activity that is free is receipt of text messages.
Any other activity is chargeable and thus if you have a zero spend cap, incoming & outgoing calls will not be possible abroad. I would expect incoming calls to fail to voicemail.

@EAB25 You don’t say where you are but if you’re within the EU any data usage even receiving an email will result in the daily charge.
How can paying for a service that your contract doesn’t cover equate to theft ?

Maybe I should have been clearer.
Charging £25 a month, FIVE TIMES my monthly bill, to use my phone abroad, is theft.

Hi @EAB25
Thanks for coming to the community.

@EAB25 No it isn’t you don’t have to purchase any add ons. The amount your contract agreement is per month has nothing to do with the same charge that all customers pay if they want to purchase any add ons, we pay the same for these regardless of our monthly bill amount.

Your defence of EE here is bizarre.
If I want to go abroad I need to purchase a roaming pass.
When I took out my contract that was £10 a month. I was happy with that arrangement.
Increasing it by 150% is theft.
I hope EE lose millions of customers because of it.

Not for £25 a month!
I'll buy an e-sim for a fiver or less.

Yes, it appears EE are the worst for going abroad. When contract is up, definitely changing providers because of this issue alone. Partner has a very basic £6 a month with Tesco and even they get roaming in EU free!! EE is a total rip off.

No doubt the latest price increase on the Roam Abroad pass is steep - but there's far more to a mobile package than roaming costs, and while O2/Tesco are understandably making marketing miles out of this, there's plenty that they're behind the rest of the industry on.
