Roaming queries and tethering abroad

I've just joined EE (PAYM) and I'm looking at the roaming setup. I've got an Iphone.

To enable roaming I can send ROAMING to 150. Will this have the same effect as turning on Settings->Mobile Data->Data Roaming through the Iphone menu?

Once roaming is enabled, I assume that I won't be charged £2/day unless I go to France, for example?

An alternative to paying £2/day will be to use the Roam Abroad pass for £10/every 30 days. Texts ROAMING PASS or STOP ROAMING PASS to 150. If I don't remember to turn on the Roam Abroad pass before I leave the UK, can I still activate it in France? Using text to 150? Through my EE online account (cannot see this option - perhaps the MyEE app is different)? By calling CS?

Is there a reminder that tells you Roam Abroad is still active when the 30 days approaches?

Please can someone confirm that tethering should work abroad, e.g. France and USA?

I've set a PIN for my VM.

Thanks

@BM_Rob : You pose various Qs to which I try to answer:

  1. Texting ROAMING to 150 has no effect on your device; only on your EE a/c. It gives you the ability to use your phone abroad but does not cover any payment plan for doing so.
  2. You won't be charged £2 /day while in UK; only when you use your UK allowances in the EU when you don't have the Roam Abroad Pass.
  3. You may order the Roam Abroad Pass for £11.40 pm pro-rata while in EU by texting ROAMING PASS to 150. There is no reminder at the end of the month other than your bill.
  4. The Roam Abroad Pass is charged pro-rata from the day you order it (text ROAMING PASS to 150) to the day you cancel it (text STOP ROAMING PASS to 150). You do start by paying up to the next bill date. Then in the billing month you cancel it you will get a rebate for the days after you cancel.
  5. You may freely tether to your phone while roaming.

Thanks @XRaySpeX

Re: your phone abroad but does cover any payment plan for doing so. I think it should be: but does not cover any payment plan

I didn't appreciate the Roam Abroad pass was pro-ratable. Where does it say it is pro-ratable? There doesn't appear to be any metion on this web page https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-and-international/roaming-data-add-ons/what-is-the-roam-abroa...

I see you are using £11.40 where the webpage above specifies £10. I assume the £11.40 is to reflect the CPI+3.9% increase later this year?

Thanks again for the quick reply

Yes, thanks, I omitted the 'not'. Corrected!

Probably! All I know is that £11.40 pm is the current price & it was raised from £10 some earlier last year. That webpage is out-of-date in that respect.

The T&C page still mentions £10, and nothing about being prorated.

I assume you don't work for EE. Or do you?

Do EE employees view this forum? I'd like to know the current price and whether it is pro-ratable.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks @XRaySpeX , I hope you don't mind if I attempt to obtain clarification. It's strange that two different web pages are showing £10 and don't mention pro-ratable.

@James_B, I've seen you reply in another conversation re roaming. Please could you throw some light on

a) the price of the Roam Aboard Pass

b) Is it proratable?

c) Are these web pages correct?

On https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-and-international/roaming-data-add-ons/what-is-the-roam-furth... scroll down to "how much does the Roam Further pass cost?"

"If you add this service in the middle of your monthly billing period then the cost in the first month will be prorated."

I am also just a user like yourself and am not EE staff.

Followed later by:

How do I remove my Roam Further Pass?

If you cancel during the middle of your monthly billing period then the cost in the final month will be prorated and you'll only be billed for the days you had the pass.

I knew I read it somewhere but couldn't recollect where.
