Roaming and texting 150

Hi,

I’m a monthly contract customer and travelling to Germany in a few weeks.

I texted ‘RO Germany to 150’ by way of pre-travel check.

I received a reply back saying:

We have now set up your phone for use Worldwide.
Great news, when in Germany you can use your plans data allowance , this includes calls, voicemail and texts back to the UK at no extra cost.
Calls to countries outside the EU are £1.54 per min and texts 64p each. Picture messages are 83p and are not included in plan allowances.

My question is:

Is that all that needs to be done? Or do I still need to text ROAMING to 150.

The text response suggests; especially the first line; that upon arrival to Germany I’m good to go as I’m set up and nothing more needs to be done!

Ok, thank you.

I appreciate the reply and I will text ROAMING to 150 before departing.

Is there a text I have to send upon arrival back in the UK, a STOP text equivalent to turn it off?

It's free & it doesn't need turning off. It should be operative whenever you go abroad in future.

Thank you for your clear and concise response.

I was worried I might incur some hidden/stealth roaming costs when I come back to the UK and perhaps needed to text something to turn it off etc!

You have put my mind at ease, thank you very much; I will now do this on my wife’s device too before I forget!

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.

There are two parts to any occasion you want to use your phone abroad.

1: Have the roaming facility active, this enables access to foreign networks and without which, you won't get coverage abroad. This is free, and is what ROAMING to 150 achieves.

2: Choose your billing add-on if you so desire. This does not automatically enable roaming, and it's a very common mistake to find yourself without coverage abroad by just following this step.
