Roaming USA Canada we need fake rings

Hi I know someone roaming in Canada at the moment.  They are on EE roaming on Rogers. When I call from UK there is a huge pause before the ringing kicks in ( uk style ringing ) most people would end up hanging up. 

When they roam on Telus for example

There is no ringing at all at the UK end.

I have also seen this before when roaming on Three in the USA.

We need some fake uk style software rings to fill the gap otherwise most people calling from UK will just hang up.

What can be done ?

@Eeping    Nothing can be done,  your call has to connect to the called device in order for you to hear that ring.   If there was a fake ring as you put it the call might not actually be connecting what happens then as you’ll be waiting on them to pick up.

Well as it is people are hanging up anyway.

When roaming in North America 

depending on roaming partner

You either get very delayed rings

Or often no ringing at all but the phone does ring at the other end. 

Anyone calling is either going to hear nothing and hang up or hear ringing after 20 seconds and probably have hung up by then. 

So incoming calls on roaming is next to useless, they need to put some fake rings in there like voip services, so there's at least a chance of someone waiting for it to be answered.

When roaming in Europe the connection is usually much faster

and you will either hear uk or euro rings. North America is another story

Only way around it at the moment is to sign up to a UK voip service and call forward to it

@Eeping  This has always been the same nothing has changed in the last 30 odd years.  The further you call the longer it takes to hear that ring,  the device has to be found via the networks around the world in order to connect so the ring is heard.  The called device has to respond after it’s been found so you hear it ring.      The EU is much closer to the UK so the device is found faster and responds quicker to the incoming call.

Ok but what I'm saying is on most North American networks, it rings their end after a while but absolutely no rings uk end whatsoever, so all you hear in UK is blank, while it is ringing at the roaming end. So there is something wrong somewhere.

How many people are even going to think it's ringing over there , when they hear absolutely nothing uk side

The ringtone heard by the calling party is generated by the called party's network. When the called person is roaming, this means the foreign network.

Yes except

1.) You hear a UK ringtone that's definitely not generated by a North American network, indeed it might be masking over the American ringing

2.) A lot of the time. Phone rings in North America and you don't here anything here in the UK end but they still pickup and answer
