EU Roaming: Making Calls or Sending Texts - Only Within Country or Within EU?

Taking EU Roaming as the typical example does the £2.59 daily charge or the 7 or 12 day EU passes only cover calls & texts made to nos within the country you are in (on top of UK nos) or do they cover any calls & texts to any nos in the EU? I'm sure it used to be EU-wide.

Extrapolating to ROW Zone 1 does the same hold for that, i.e. reading "Zone 1"  for "EU" above? One consequence of it only being In-Country would be that the passes wouldn't cover calls between USA & Canada despite them being on the same Country Code.

Hi @XRaySpeX

Our roaming passes include calls back to the UK and calls within the country you are in only. If you were roaming and wanted to call a different country, you would be charged separately for this.

@Lesley_W : Why has the versatility of the roaming passes been reduced since the Roaming Refresh of Aug 2024 (?) & not been made clear to users that this reduction has occurred?

The old Roaming Tool for the EU used to say:

Call within EU & to UK                                         Included

Since my OP I had intended to do some more tedious research on EE's T&C's & Price Plans pertaining to Roaming. I have now done so.

I also refer you to the latest EE pay monthly plans price guide where it states:

ROAMING
EU/EEA Roaming
A daily charge will apply to use allowances in the EU/EEA unless you have an add-on or you are on our Essentials Plus, All Rounder, or Full Works plans, which include EU/EEA Roaming. See below for details of destinations included.

You can use your minutes and texts:
• When roaming in the EU/EEA to call and text customers of UK mobile networks and UK landlines starting
with 01, 02 & 03 (including landlines and mobiles in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) & Republic of Ireland.
When roaming in the EU/EEA (including Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man) to call and text customers of EU/EEA mobile networks and landlines.

Nowt about only calling within the country you're in!

Similarly EE Standard and Non-standard charges price guide

ROAMING
For Handset and SIM tariffs launched from 7th July 2021 and tablet/laptop/mobile broadband tariffs launched from 18th August 2021: there is a £2.59 daily charge* to use your plan allowances whilst abroad within the EU to call/text to the UK or within the EU zone

I can find various other T&C's docs that say the same.

So why does the mere Roaming Tool help page not conform to EE's official corporate T&C's & Price Guides? Some illegality here? Get the lawyers in!

Thanks for pointing this out @XRaySpeX, I'll get this looked into.
