Recycled mobile number, debt recovery agencies keep contacting me

hi,  I had mobile number from EE thought it was a brand new number from Dec 2023,   about 1 month into having the number I got a debt recovery agency call,  recorded message,  so contacted the agency via email and told them I'm not the person they are after as I've not in my name,  it worked.   had 5 to 6 agencies now,  and I've contacted each company individually,  but got another one last week,  as last weeks company contacted me this time last year,  they done some digging into the account they told me that Experian is giving each company my mobile number,  I'm going through a complaints process now with Experian to get my number deleted from all their systems as each time its always been the same name.i know my number is a recycled number,  don't EE or any of the other network vet theses mobile numbers before giving them to another customer.  I'm refusing to change mobile numbers again,  told too many people this one.

thanks in advance and sorry if I've posted this message in wrong forum

The timescale between a number being disconnected and being made available for re-use is intentionally lengthy, precisely to avoid tripping over previous users. I suspect though, that the debt management industry is one where long lead times are "business as usual" and thus are one of the harder ones to legislate for, where number re-use is concerned.

It would be interesting to know what kind of vetting you're hoping for EE (or any mobile operator) to undertake where number re-use is concerned.

I'm just wanted all the networks to check with all the debt recovery services to cancel all account tied to each number before giving number to a new customer,

@alistairmck1  First of all your number should not be given out via Experian  or any other credit score reporting company.     That’s a GDRP volition for a start,  I’ll be going mental if that was the case.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

When an account is placed with us, we conduct trace procedures to obtain contact information for our customers. I can confirm that the number ending XXX was obtained from Experian during this process.  If you have further concerns of your numbers being linked to an individual you have no connection with, you can contact Experian to disassociate this link. This number was considered appropriate for use at the time of the trace being completed, and contact was initiated in our efforts to liaise with the named account holder.

This is latest reply I got from Debt recovery agency

Sounds like your complaint very much lies with Experian in this case, with a follow upto the ICO if not satisfied. It's the ICO who enforce GDPR and data handling.
