As it is not in EU, you cannot use your usual UK allowances there but will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/united-arab-emirates .

If you are on contract, remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to check roaming is enabled on your account.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi

I just wanted to clarify a couple of points as I am off to Dubai next week.

I know I will have plentiful wifi in my hotel and Im sure at certain venues when out and about.

However, if someone tries to call me, it would be good to know so I can contact them on WhatsApp or iMessage when back on wifi.

So the question is, If I turn off my voicemail (to prevent a chargeable answered call) turn off wifi calling and data roaming, will that leave me clear of any charges whilst still seeing an incoming call?

Regards Peter

Hi @nancol,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Yes, you'd only be charged if you answered the call or it was redirected to voicemail.

Hope this helps.

James

Pay monthly 👍

Morning @Kelso1

Thanks for coming to the community.

Please see our Roaming Costs, Help page for information on using your phone abroad.

Also, please text ROAMING to 150 before travelling to make sure your account is set up for roaming.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne

Hello @Mcelvaney1

Welcome to the community.

Are you pay as you go or pay monthly?

If you are pay monthly did you activate roaming before leaving the UK?

You can find roaming charges and available add-ons by using our Roaming Tool
