I’m a new customer, set up new sim today and calls and sms works but WhatsApp won’t send verification code. It just says try again in 1hr and WhatsApp call to verify won’t work either.

It comes up stating “We couldn’t call your number, please try again in 1hr’
When I try again in 1hr, it does the same thing.
My calls and sms work just fine as other apps and people can call and text me.

new sim with EE
ive been trying since Thursday 16th November and this still isn’t working on my new phone. Raised with EE but they can’t see a problem. did you manage to get it fixed?

I’ve spoken to EE today and there is nothing wrong with my account. It is not an EE issue. Ive changed my number on all other accounts I have and ones that require verification codes come through straight away, it’s literally just WhatsApp.
I have been researching it and seems lots of people are having this issue in the last few days and WhatsApp seem reluctant to do anything. I have an email exchange with them but I’m certain it’s a bot responding. I’m really annoyed with them.

I’m the exact same I couldn’t have said it any better. It’s getting very annoying now and WhatsApp emails back and fourth it’s just going round in circles it’s definitely not a real person I’m speaking to. They’ve stopped emailing me back now.
however
i did test my WhatsApp as me and my husband have both had new sims. I tested my husbands number on my WhatsApp and the verification text went straight to his phone so I think it’s either WhatsApp have my number ‘blocked’ or EE seem to have a block on WhatsApp verification messages through to my phone.
im waiting for a call back tomorrow for a level 2 engineer with EE however I’m not sure they’ll be able to help. Don’t know what else I can do. No point in having the new phone if I can’t use WhatsApp
what's your next step to get it fixed?

I’ve not tried it yet today but looking on Twitter, it’s getting worse for other people. Did an engineer call you today?

I don’t think it’s a WhatsApp problem, tried to send in verification for my 3 sim and it came in right away it’s a EE problem and they keep saying it’s not their problem. I’ve been on phone with them and nothing is sorted out. I’m really annoyed and can’t use WhatsApp for days now.
