Re: Travel brunei

Hi Christopher_G

I have the same problem as jd2892. I am in Brunei and unable to receive or send SMS messages on my EE line, and can't text to 150. I have a pay-as-you-go SIM card.

I need to be able to receive texts on my EE line whilst in Brunei. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this problem?

It's the roaming facility being enabled on your account that allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

PAYG phones are auto-enabled for roaming once they are first used in the UK. If that's not been done, there is no workaround.

Hello bristolian,

Many thanks for your reply, but I have been using my phone in the UK for many years, so this can't be the problem

Does your phone show coverage indicators of a Brunei network? That's the basis for using calls, texts & mobile data.

If roaming is enabled on your phone, then toggling flight mode and manually selecting an alternative local network is often a good fix.

Under manual network selection, I can choose between DST and 3 other networks, and with DST I get "no service" and for the other three, I get "network registration failed" 😞

Thanks for getting back to us @Wfed

Could you please confirm what phone you are using?

Hi @Wfed

Could you confirm you have data roaming enabled in your handset settings?

Have you been able to use roaming before?

I called the EE Support yesterday via Skype from my Laptop, and went through a number of checks with them. I have pay as you go and roaming is enabled (I have used this phone and SIM card successfully in many other countries) – it just doesn't work in Brunei.
In "network selection", when I choose automatic selection, it says "Preferred network: no service", and when I manually choose, I get "network registration failed" for all networks.
I switched the phone off and on several times, removed and re-introduced the SIM, turned flight mode on and off, but nothing helped, and the EE Support said they are unable to help.

Did you speak with our technical care team @Wfed?

If yes, was a ticket raised regarding this?
