If you "sent" a text and it showed sent on your screen, then the lack of reply is not EE's issue.

I can't speak for Apple, but Android phones certainly let you easily see whether a text message has been sent or is still pending - and also allow for free delivery reports that reliably work.

i'm still getting used to my new phone , not that i use it much but i seen
RCS (EE ) . Should I use RCS or SMS?
SMS is a proven technology with an impressive track record for reliability.
It functions even under less-than-ideal network conditions, ensuring your
message gets through. In contrast, RCS relies on data connections, making
it more vulnerable to network interruptions and less reliable in areas with
poor data coverage

SMS is a very reliable tech and delivery is usually close to immediate. I'm yet to discover anything useful with RCS that is not available via other existing techs, it's disabled on my device to avoid complicating an otherwise reliable facility.
