Re: International ring tone while in UK?

Hi, I have virtually the same question, namely:

  • When  I call some people in the UK (Leeds, for example) I get a ring-tone that sounds like I’m ringing abroad - which I certainly don't want to do.  (My calls don't get answered when I hear this tone, though I can't tell whether the connection is faulty or whether the called person is just not available.)  Why would I get this 'international ring tone', and does it indicate a fault?

Hi @MLWin

Is it a mobile number? Is it possible that they are abroad on holiday? Is it just the one number that this happens to when you call?

If you call a UK number you can only be charged for that. If you're calling a mobile number, the user being abroad is the most likely cause - it is they who are responsible for the international part  of the call, not you.
