I have a PAYG sim - iPhone has been activated for roaming, credit has been added to my account and yet I still can’t get data / internet access.
any ideas?

@Mariadee : Where are you? Can you make calls & texts?

@Mariadee Your credit will not go towards data usage you need to purchase a data add on but this also depends on where you are on the world

In Thailand - have enabled calls and texts but they also don’t seem to work even though my EE message says I’m ready and set up for calls abroad 🤷🏼♀️

I figured an add on would be needed but it’s not click which one for use abroad in Thailand. The link through I can See for data when talking about Thailand on EE messaging comes up with a ‘forbidden’ url.
Add on packs have data but none specify for abroad just UK and EU?

As it is not in EU, you cannot use your usual UK allowances there but will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/thailand PAYG section.

Thanks - I have been to this page a few times but it just links to more information and when you finally get to the add ons it just says zone A which using Thailand. Even when you put in Thailand it doesn’t have direct links for add ons in Zone B 🤷🏼♀️

Hi @Mariadee
Just to add my two cents to this thread. Can I ask why you'd be wanting to use PAYG roaming data from EE when you would spend so much less getting a local SIM card and using that instead. Personally I used AIS as their tourist sim offered 5G data, coverage was great and even offered great roaming rates giving me 5G in Singapore.
Depending on your iPhone model, you can even utilise the dual sim functionality by using the physical and eSim slot simulatiously so you can still be linked to your UK number for iMessage, incoming texts and WhatsApp.
Happy travels

Thanks. -lived here before so understand the ease but I’m now on holiday and need access to work WhatsApp’s as and when they come in (no such thing as holiday!) and no dual sim phone so makes it a pain in the ass to switch each time.
thanks
