Number on bill I’ve never called

Louj80

Calls lasted seconds, and totalled £54 approx 10-12 calls. They were made late at night, but I’ve never called it? Tried googling number but nothing comes up.  According to bill it’s a USA number.
I’ve only just noticed the charges as bill came out of bank overnight.  I’ve been away and didn’t check bill. (Number called was a week before I was abroad)
anyone else had this?? And how do I prove I never made the call?

Hi @CraigMcG

Thanks for coming to the community.

Were the calls listed in your phone's dialler app?

Leanne.

Hi Leanne

By the time I got the bill, the call list didn’t go back far enough …

So only showed on the bill…

They said I or someone else who had access to my phone must have called the number. The calls were made when phone was in my locked car & I was in a house.

So odd & very concerning that EE have not been able to find out how/why my phone was hacked
And someone is making a lot of money by stealing on premium number

@Louj80  and @MrGDSwift  This happened to me charged on my  May bill for £366 for 9 calls to the US i am supposed to have made between the 17th and 28th April . I never made one of these calls. In early August was on the phone for hour with EE who said they will investigate but it is still with their credit department and  my phone is suspended .  I have. aw ork phone that i use instead and if this is not sorted out  in the next few days, I  will leave EE after being with them for 14 years!!!  they have o clue about customer services or customer loyalty and being such a long time customer they should be attempting to resolve this very quickly.

This experience has been so bad that i would not even  recommend EE to my worst enemy.  I am currently getting advice from the ombudsman . I can prove that I never made these calls because for my work I have a US phone for outgoing and incoming calls from US . Plus, my UK phone had zero records  of these calls in the call logs when i got the bill.   This is the extent of fraud we are dealing with in the age of machine learning and AI. Company leaders  use it as a means to extract more money from unsuspecting customers. Even if they refund it later they've made interest on all erroneous payments that they extract from these innocent customers. I'm afraid we've entered into a new age of sociopathic white collar crimes  that fall within  the grey areas of not being illegal and big corporations are  getting away with scamming customers daily . I hope you've managed to solve your problem.

@MrGDSwift  see my reply just now to@Louj80 .  I have been with ee for 14 years and this is definitely system fraud (they will  ultimately blame a fault in their computer system  at their end as I can prove that my phone  did not make those calls) .    for work and tax reasons I keep records of ALL my calls.
@Leanne_T  i have waited 2 months for someone to get back to me on this.
why are ee ignoring the fact that something is very wrong with their system and it could  be linked  to their  'calling on other devices ' option,   or some other issue where they are also charging for incoming scam calls that don't get picked up by the phone....

there are too many complaints on this chat alone for ee to be ignoring this issue.  Consumer watchdogs should be investigating this if ee don't think they are responsible for taking forward and investigation into this.

@Sherri92 and @CraigMcG  and @MrGDSwift  and @Louj80   its exactly  the same experience i have experienced!! I have been with EE since 2010  and can prove that none of  the international the calls were made by me   - totalling  £366!!

i am leaving them and  I have left the country.  I will only pay what my plan charges and will NOT pay  for these additional charges!

I am willing to go to court on this issue  ( i have a family full of lawyers  that deal with this type of corporate hijacking  scamming all the time and have investigative journalist friends that have investigated and have evidence from previous EE employees  on  why this keeps happening to honest customers and why  EE just do nothing but continue to rake in profits as a result on these errors ! basically their customer services inefficiencies and customer billing "errors" are making them richer) and so if possible please send your email contact details to me via Private Messenger so that the legal team can compile  a list of the customers  who have experienced this atrocious service and let the courts know that this is just the tip of the iceburg. I am sure it will revel there are 1000s  of customers that this is happening to.

[Mod edit: Please do not post personal information on the public board. Thanks!]

Just so you know you are not alone . scroll the the bottom fo this page on the link here. there are numerous  legal complaints against EE billing practices. it appears thei start to happen when  you downgrade your plan or give notice to  terminate your service. its pure evil !

Thanks for joining us on Community @Travel2023

It's not usual for unknown charges to appear on a bill. We have an integrity team who check for anomalies to ensure the billing details are correct, or investigate if in the rare instance something appears.

I've sent you private message for more information. Please check your inbox and get back to me when you can.
