Following a "recommendation" from BT at the end of my excellent mobile contract with them I transferred both mobiles to EE.
Porting took ages much longer than quoted, signal is poor, website is terrible, still unsure when new payments will commence - early days but very disappointed.

Porting should take 48 hours max. As for signal, that depends on the area.

Number porting is usually on a next-working-day basis. BT used EE's mobile network similarly to an MVNO basis, so there should be no difference in the coverage you receive.
What are the coverage issues you're having?
