Not receiving calls or able to make calls whilst in america

I have just arrive in America 24 hrs ago. I have the roaming pass which I activated 1 month ago when I went to Spain. I find in America I cannot make or receive calls even over Wi-Fi and I keep getting SOS in service bar. Any suggestions

Have you rebooted your phone since arriving in the United States?

Are you aware of anyone else experiencing this?

Does your phone connect to a network or is it just the SOS sign you see?
