@Lambert72 : That's right! The Roam Abroad Pass will only cover you on land or within sight of land in the EU.

While at sea you cannot use your usual UK allowances there but will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/maritime--ships--ferries-and-cruises .

Hi Lambert 72 ,

I came here to ask the same question about roaming and charges for my cruise to the Norway Fjords in September coming up . Could you please shed any light on what you did ? Or did you manage to connect to any land when docked or anything?? Many thanks

Yes did work things out if you have ee smart benefit roam aboard than you can use your phone when docked and on land. Never had any issues myself when at sea leave your phone in airplane mode so you don't get any charges

Hi. I am going to fjords in July and really confused as to what I need to do to use my phone for whatsapp and maybe the odd internet search. The onboard internet packages onboard are extortionate!  Did you get add ons with EE and if so what and what did it allow you to do?

Any advice great.

When on a cruise ship, you are captive to their telephony provision. You either pay for onboard WiFi, or maritime roaming (https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/maritimeshipsferriesandcruises ) or wait until you are within radio range of land-based networks/WiFi-hotspots.
