Mobile networks in Spain

Jeanm13

I  paid for data roaming in the Uk. Having  been in Spain for 3 days  I am unable to obtain any network coverage either automatically or by manual choice.

I am now using a cafés wifi

I cannot ring ee in the uk because I have no network. If I use my husband’s phone ( which works fine ) I get no satisfactory answer because after clicking the various options the returning text tells me he’s no problem with roaming. Which of course he doesn’t

it’s a farce not being able to speak to someone !!
had anyone any suggestions? Please !

Hi @Jeanm13

Thanks for coming here.

Did you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK to make sure your account was set up to use abroad?

Data roaming simply refers to using mobile data whilst roaming, similar to voice-roaming meaning a voice call whilst roaming. You have paid for a billing add-on, but this is separate from enabling the roaming facility which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

Travelling abroad without enabling roaming - as it sounds like you've done - does indeed cause a catch-22 situation, this is why all the published advice recommends this is done before leaving the country. Normally by texting ROAMING to 150 from the UK - did you do this?
