Why is it that BT moved me to EE and now my phones are not on the same bill as broadband and EE disconnected the phones due to non payment but I have a direct debit mandate. So I spent 2hours on the phone sorting it and paying directly to get them reconnected and now, 2 weeks later, they’ve disconnected them again due to non payment.

I'm sorry to hear there has been a problem with your direct debit payment.

I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Team on 150 who'll be able to access your account and make sure your direct debits are set up correctly.
