Mobile broadband speed

According to the speed check I should be able to get around 30Mb/s but on a good day I can get about 15.  Most days it is under 10.  I am moderately rural but in Central Scotland.  I am using MR600 router.  When I had a landline I got about 1.  I can see what I think is the nearest EE mast from the house and walking 300m along the road I get about 75 on my phone.  I have absolutely zero technical understanding.  Is there anything I might do to improve matters?

Hi @3weedogs.

You could try changing the position of the router.

Alternatively, you could speak with our Tech Gurus about an external antenna.

Thanks Jon_K

I tried moving the router around but it made no difference.  I will talk to the Tech Gurus.

Let us know how you get on, @3weedogs 🙂

What speed check is this that you're doing? Mobile networks by nature, don't tend to offer predicted speeds - that's usually related to fixed-line connections.

I think my original post was misleading.  The 30Mb was from the EE site when I looked to see what BB options are available to me.  It shows 30 on 4G there.

Does an EE phone in the same location get similar speeds?

Sometimes.  Usually the phone is a bit faster but sometimes they are spectacularly different.  The phone tends to be generally a bit faster.
