Initiating roaming when already abroad

I came to Malta with my EE phone, and the automatic setting on my iPhone logged me on to a network called "epic".  I forgot to initiate roaming on my phone prior to departing the UK, and now have no means to text ROAMING to 150.  Any solutions out there?  Grateful for any help!

If your phone has connected to a local network in a foreign country, then roaming is active.

What are the service issues you're having?

Sorry - did’t really explain that very well did I?
The problem is that while the phone displays “epic” as the logged network, I cannot make outgoing calls. Any attempt simply results in three beeps and then silence.

Are you on PAYG or pay-monthly? If pay-monthly, check for an active spend-cap that would prevent charges being incurred

https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/manage-use/pay-monthly/set-up-and-manage-spend-cap

Nope- no spending cap active on my pay monthly account.

Can you receive calls and texts @billtennant?

What about mobile data?

James

Interestingly I can receive calls and texts from my wife’s O2 phone. When I switch on mobile data it seems to be OK.

Thanks for getting back to us @billtennant

Is there any other available networks when you do a manual search?

Katie

There are epic, Melita Mobile and go mobile. Having tried each one, I get a message in English and Maltese telling me that the number is invalid and that call barring has been initiated.

Thanks for trying @billtennant.

It looks like everything we would recommend has been done.

Are you with someone who has a working phone you could use to contact our customer care team who can look into your account?
