Help with calls and voicemail

Hello. Could someone please help me. I have recently renewed my EE contract. My phone has recently installed a new software update. Since contract renewal and update, I can't make outgoing calls or listen to voicemail. I can't even contact EE on 150 as the call ends and I get a  prompt with "Couldn't make call. Try again later." You can't email EE, the EE robot chat bot is of no use, and I am the least technical person you could meet. I doubt I am in the right forum! Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This shouldn't have anything to do with a change of price-plan, the software update potentially so.

Is "couldn't make call. Try again later" an audible announcement, or on-screen prompt? Can you send & receive texts? Does your phone show coverage indicators or a WiFi-calling connection?

Hello Bristolian,

I found the WiFi calling connection icon and "activated" it. I can now make calls and have listened to my voicemail.
