I purchased the roaming abroad pass after checking it covered Canada on the phone with ee. Are you sure it will work I asked. Of course Mr Davey it will work as soon as you land.

Am in Canada now and my phone is not working. Am unable to call or text for help. What do I do. The network providers just don’t recognise the ee sim. All I get is sos at the top right.  Tried re booting it, taking sim out nothing. Will have to revert to buy local sim and claiming money back from ee for the roaming pass. Bloody useless crap . Any ideas other than the switch it on and off approach  Thnx

Hi @Busterdude

Thanks for coming to the community.

I am sorry to hear the phone is not working in Canada.

Have you manually tried searching for a network, do any show available?

Leanne 🙂

Hi thanks for the reply.

. If I have automatic network selection ticked nothing appears. If it’s switched off I have  Telsus, bell freedom and Roger’s wireless appear.

If I connect   to Bell it flicks to  5g  for about  30 seconds and then to 1 signal bar and then back to sos .  The other don’t seem to recognise the sim.

Any ideas ?

Regards

kevan

You've referred to a billing add-on, but did you enable roaming itself? That's what allows your phone to connect to foreign networks, and without enabling it - an inability to obtain any coverage outside the UK is the result.

It is normally enabled by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK - did you do this?

If you have travelled abroad without enabling roaming, your only recourse is to contact CS from another means to do so. Either +44 7953 966150 from another phone, or use WiFi to call +44 800 0798586 from a web-calling app such as Skype.

Thanks gave  up in end.

I  bought a local sim free calls and texts and loads of usage for 30 quid. Won’t be  using the going  abroad package again from  EE.

Waste of money Second time been in Canada and it hasn’t worked .

A local SIM can often be a good choice for data especially, but bear in mind calls to & from the UK will be at international rates which is not the case with a roaming bundle.

Pros & cons of both.
