Can’t make calls from abroad

Hi all,

I’m currently in Italy and I’m unable to make or receive calls from the UK.

I have the ‘Calling Abroad from the UK’ add on, plus I have data roaming on, but I have no idea why I can’t make or receive calls.

I tried to call EE but obviously can’t because I have no outgoing calls.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jon

The Call Abroad add-on is only for making International calls from the UK & so has no effect in Italy.

Are you on contract or PAYG? Did you use that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150?

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Otherwise try logging into your MyEE account online & go to Menu > Account Settings > Usage Control > Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium Rate. They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated. If they are not ticked, can you activate these settings?

PAYG is auto enabled for roaming. You won't see any of those settings & don't need to change anything. If outside EU, do you have enough credit for making calls from abroad?

We had the same issue in Australia. If you have Roaming Abroad switched on in Parental controls on your ee online account, try switching Automatic network selection off in phone settings and manually choosing a local network.

Before you go try texting ROAMFULL to 150 if you get the chance.

Hope this helps!
