5G Standalone

I recently upgraded my EE plan to the full works plan and it has given me 5G SA as an add on, however there is no option for me to enable it on my iPhone. I have replaced the eSIM that I am using and ensured that my phone is up to date, but still nothing has come up. Is there anything else I need to do in order to enable it?

Tried resetting my network settings, reinstalling another eSIM, and updated to 18.3 but the option is still not there. Would getting a physical sim bring the option?

@davidlehan1 Any eSIM should be capable of 5G standalone. It could be worth a try with a physical SIM though, especially if you have any other 5G SA capable devices around that you could test your SIM in to help clarify if its a device or SIM issue.

You can pick up a replacement SIM from an EE store free with photo-ID or also order one to activate via your EE online account.

Is there no carrier settings update  prompt  if you go to Settings> General>About?

Alex

Yeah I'll see if a phyiscal SIM will give me the option to enable it, and I checked carrier settings but it seems up to date. Going from other peoples posts it seems that they got a text from EE saying they need to restart their phone to finish network updates or something of that sort; I never got this text. Do you think it would be wise ringing CS and see if they could possibly push this text or whatever else is needed?

Hey again @davidlehan1, what you've described here sounds like a network refresh.

This is when we update your network profile at our end, and whilst it is something our team can request manually, it's only under certain circumstances.

It's definitely worth reaching out to our team though, and they'll be able to check all of your settings at our end, run through some troubleshooting, and fingers crossed get this sorted out.

Peter

I rang 150 and managed to get a network refresh come through, but the option still isn't showing up; do you think going to an Apple Store and getting them to take a look would be worth it? I need to go in the future anyways for a battery replacement so it would be easy to drop that in too

@davidlehan1

Is your iPhone 15 directly from EE (as part of your upgrade) or did you source it from elsewhere?

Ali

When will 5g/ 5g standalone be available in my area? I live in Cambridge and it says on the ee coverage map that I have outdoor access to 5g in my area but I haven’t ever had a 5g signal in my area which is strange any ideas on when it will be available? My postcode is CB58QQ.

Hi there @10Cwright_

Thanks for coming to the community.

Our EE's 5G Network & Internet page has information on 5G and 5G Standalone to check if this is available in your area and what is needed to access 5G and 5G Standalone.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Worth asking the question, are you on Pay Monthly or Pay As You Go?

Pay As You Go does not have access to 5G if so.
