do i get charged for receiving VOIP calls whilst overseas. I'm in East Africa and would like to know if i get charged for receiving VOIP calls from anywhere else in the world.

@Kukesh   Is that via mobile data or Wi-Fi ?  If on Wi-Fi then no but if on cellular data and depending where you are and what adds you have then yes. As you need to purchase that data add on to use that data allowance that this add on gives you.     As your in Africa you’re  EE data allowance doesn’t cover you for usage so you’ll need an add on to use data.   Use THIS to see what you can get for that location as East Africa is more than one country. 
 You’ll not get a huge allowance of data for what you pay so a voip call over cellular isn’t going to be cheap as you’ll need to have a data allowance big enough for that call or the call will cut off.   This is not something I would recommend at all as this will be expensive just to purchase enough data to hold a call long enough.

Use of apps is just charged as data usage, that applies whether you're in the UK or abroad.

@bristolian   While it’s data and EE don’t charge for calls via data the cost to make a voip call while in this location will require a data add on thats available for this location, and  that’s the charge and it will be expensive as you’ll not get much data allowance for the price.   It’ll  probably be more cost effective to actually make a call. 

 Forget the data usage in the UK as that’s included with your allowance.
