WiFi calling abroad

I am in Greece and we have very limited phone signal.  Does WiFi calling now work abroad as I can’t make calls to landlines without a signal.  Thank you

@Turner8  wi-Fi calling is not available when abroad it’s for UK use only.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Have you tried manually connecting to a different local network that has better coverage where you are?

Yes I’m connected to Greek network but I’m in a remote area!

Is that true in 2026? The sales rep when I subscribed to EE 3 months ago told me there was no restrictions abroad for wifi calling. It's not working for me here in France with my EE sim but works perfectly with Vodafone and SFR sims. I spoke to 2x difference customer service agents (technical side) who both insist EE does NOT restrict the use of Wifi calling abroad.

Any clarity?

WiFi Calling lets you make and receive calls and text messages over WiFi, even without mobile network coverage. You only need a phone that supports WiFi Calling and a WiFi connection in the UK. (My highlight)

The service has always been intended as a UK-based coverage enhancement.

Thanks for the answer @bristolian but I now have 3x different own EE people firmly confirming that EE supports Wifi calling abroad. Where does your information come from and can you point me towards an EE resource that supports what you wrote? The link does not specify UK only.

Just to be clear I believe you based on my current experience but EE insists it should work. IF they limit it to UK, they tricked me into becoming a client under that assumption so I'm looking for evidences. I spent 80% of my time abroad in places where only wifi calling is possible.

Thanks again for your support

Pretty sure bristolian already said this...

For those EE people that said WiFi-calling should work abroad, do you have this in writing? Or have you used the "get my personal data" DSAR process to get a copy of the call recording of them saying so?

Either would be gold dust. Otherwise, it just sounds like bog-standard telephone mis-advice.

Hi @AntonyVa,

Welcome to the Community!

I'm sorry to hear about the confusion here. WiFi Calling uses your WiFi connection to connect to the EE network, so if you are abroad then this will not happen, as there is no EE network to connect to.

Is your phone set up for your trip?
