Hi,
Is anyone else getting terrible data coverage in their town centre? In central Windsor (Berkshire) I regularly have no data connection, just an exclamation mark next to the signal icon on my Google Pixel 5. Is this due to buildings (a castle?), proximity to a railway or anything else? Or too many people connecting to too few masts? It's a real problem given that paying for parking on RingGo needs an internet connection.
Ultimately would a different network be better, or are they sharing the same kit?
Thanks

My phone says that it has two bars of 4G, but it is impossible to send or receive SMS or iMessages / WhatsApp messages, make or receive calls or access any mobile data. And it has been impossible for three years. No matter what time of day or year. I don’t think I can be any clearer than that.
As for the castle - unlikely, I agree, but not a conspiracy theory really. There is an electronic grid set up around the castle for drones, not beyond the realms of possibility that anti-espionage tools are in use and cause interference. But that is just a suggestion that came from an analyst at GCHQ - what do they know, right?
Other than that, I’m not sure what your reply adds here. There is a specific local issue in Windsor. It has been problematic for years. Plenty of people report exactly the same issue. It is a busy town centre in the heart of one of the densest populated areas of the UK that gets millions of tourists per annum. I should be able to get an iMessage from my husband, get an Uber or access my digital bus tickets. EE should be able to provide that basic level of service.
What are EE community stars anyways? Do you work for them? Or just schill for a listed company for fun?

Being gaslit by fans of BT Group plc isn’t something I had on my bingo card for 2025.

It is largely irrelevant to me. After being with EE and predecessors for over 20 years, I’ll just take my £250 a month spend over four devices to a rival that can provide mobile data in the town where I live. EE is too large to care about that, but it provides an insight into their approach to customers. And could be so easily fixed by saying “we know there is an issue, but we can help by providing access to EE hotspots whilst we sort it out.” Pretty simple, really.

Do you have documented evidence of GCHQ staffers having suggested this? Otherwise, why are the same alleged anti-espionage tools not used at every other UK royal residence? Interference on the radio interface simply does not cause the symptoms described. Like I said, conspiracy theory.
Without disputing the experience of posters in here, all that's being discussed is a local capacity issue. Having visited the town myself a few months back prior to some re-config work, I didn't experience any issues then.
And no, I'm not employed by EE but do post here from professional experience.
