Terrible coverage in central Windsor

Hi,

Is anyone else getting terrible data coverage in their town centre? In central Windsor (Berkshire) I regularly have no data connection, just an exclamation mark next to the signal icon on my Google Pixel 5. Is this due to buildings (a castle?), proximity to a railway or anything else? Or too many people connecting to too few masts? It's a real problem given that paying for parking on RingGo needs an internet connection.

Ultimately would a different network be better, or are they sharing the same kit?

Thanks

Anyone else have no mobile data coverage in centre of Windsor can’t access anything unless on someone else’s WiFi got 2 phones on EE both the same & 1 Voda & that’s fine & 5G !

Hi @NigeMetcalfe

Have you checked EE network status checker;

Thanks

This is persistent issue over past few years.
Went to central Windsor today with my daughter and her friend, we all on EE, none of us had data until about 5pm. When you walk in to EE store on high street the data works perfectly!!! Frustrating, moving to Vodafone or O2

Don’t blame u. I have moved to Vodafone and have access to data in central Windsor. There are some spots where it’s tricky but far, far better than EE.

I too will be moving once my contract is up. This has been going on years. It's ridiculous really I have used the network status checker and it says everything is ok. If you put the postcode in to the EE connection strength on the website it says excellent signal inside and out. This is just false advertising.. I have complained and pointed this out to them but still nothing changes, the same tired response no problems detected... One even suggested it might be my handset! Well everyone I know on EE has the same problem so no it's not my handset!

Is that true? It wouldn't surprise me, but can anyone confirm this?

March 2024 and still no reception or data connection in Windsor central using EE. It’s been like that since I moved here 6 years ago and have not seen any kind of improvement. I use two sims and don’t have any issues with O2 and neither does my wife who is also on O2. I’ve been using One2one/Tmobile/EE since the early 00’s and as such have been reluctant to move hoping that at some point the service would improve, but it seems that judging by the age of the thread and my own experience, a solution is unlikely anytime soon.

Afternoon everyone.

Our engineers have experienced a delay accessing the area to install upgrades to the existing mast and increase capacity in Windsor. We are working with the site provider to agree a date to access the site and install the equipment needed for the upgrades. Barring any further unforeseen delays, we expect all work to be completed by the end of June 2024.

Leanne.

Today is June 16th 2024 and I live approximately 0.7 miles from Windsor castle. I’ve always known there has been issues with the EE network in and around the central area, a discovery that hit me once I joined EE.
And since then, I’ve had to get used to the fact that I can’t use my phone along the main High Street and that I’ll just have to wait out my contract.
But Recently the issue has spread wider afield to right outside my doorstep. It’s gotten so bad that my access to data is completely pointless. It’s truly quite incredible; just like on the Main Street, my device states it has 4G / 5G but cannot send or receive data. Awful. Awful. And as soon as I leave central Windsor, I get full service.

I have read that improvements will be made by the end of the month. And I hope so too. As I’m sick of this.

You (EE) really need to educate your staff in the local EE store on how to mitigate this issue correctly when speaking with customers. Hearing the line “yeah the castle blocks the signal for security” and a shrug of the shoulders. When I asked “**bleep** is going on?”  is laughable. And It was that point I knew I was speaking with a moron who hasn’t been trained properly.

anyway, sort it out.
