Hi, Whats going on up here in the far North Highlands? Lost service yesterday at 1700 and since 0900 this morning a very wobboly 3g service. This is starting to form a patteren. No comms from ee about shceduled work etc. I went off grid 4 years ago, and up til now been very satisfied with a solid 4g+ service. I am now worried that I might not have a 999 service for protracted periods.
Any suggestions. I coud change network but I still have over 12 months contract with EE.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Thanks everyone. Turns out to be a power failure at one of the local masts. Its appears to be back on now.

@dollemorehunt , have you checked here:
https://coverage.ee.co.uk/coverage/ee
You can also register and receive further updates.
Faults can develop anytime and depending what the fault is depends how long it will take to repair, also this will depend on access, as EE also need permission for access.
If you have fixed broadband, do you have a phone with wifi calling enabled?

To add to @Schockwave comments the 999 service will connect to any available network, not just your carrier.
Thanks

Is this in a particular area of the Highlands? It's a big patch!!
In many parts of the Highlands, it's not uncommon for there to only be 4G service instead of overlapping 2G/4G.
As mentioned, you can register upto 5 locations on the status website for proactive updates on faults & issues.
