I have a Google Pixel 7, a few months old, purchased from John Lewis. I have an up to date SIM card. My plan is 12M SIM Essential Plan.
I don't get 5G even where I should. I am sure the phone is capable of getting 5G.
Is this a setting issue, or do I need to play more for an upgraded SIM plan please?

I'd definitely recommend giving them another call @paulrcurtis.
It would be great if you could also keep us updated on this thread.

Just wanted to add 1 more user here with the same issue.
Pixel 7 and never received a 5G signal. I've been to enough big cities (Newcastle, Leeds, York, London) and never had 5G access. Tried phoning EE over a year ago and was told it should be working and probably just a reception issue. I know it isn't.

Hi @DanB1979
Welcome to the community!
If you are a Pay Monthly customer, have a compatible phone and plan, and are within a 5G area then I can't understand why you've never seen a 5G connection yet.
It sounds like this has been ongoing, so I would suggest to contact us again so we can review this with you further.

There should be a setting in the phone to select which type of network you want to use, however, somehow EE disable this setting. I don't know how they do this, I buy my phones direct from Google and that menu disappears from my phone when it's on EE, with a Vodafone SIM, the menu IS there!
There is another way though...
On the Dialler dial *#*#4636#*#* this opens a 'secret' settings screen.
Go to Phone information...
Near the bottom there is 'Set preferred network type' with a drop down arrow.
Now you should be able to select from a list of network types. Don't worry too much about what they all are, basically if it says NR its 5G
In all honesty though, in my experience, 5G is pretty rubbish, so I have it turned off most of the time.
There has only been a handful of times when 5G has been better than 4G, most of the time 5G is actually slower than 4G! This is because currently, most of the the 5G networks aren't 'true' 5G, they piggyback onto the 4G network!

Slow data speeds are caused by insufficient capacity on the serving site/sector for the usage being demanded. SA/NSA mode is a different issue.

Just realised the screenshots I posted had my phone number on them, they seem to have been deleted now. Whoops!
Here's it again (without my number!)
