Network at N16

Hi, I am a proud user of EE network, but since yesterday I have moved to a new location at N16, stoke newington area. My internet is worse than ever. This has never happened to me since I have joined EE. I am here at Zone 2 of Central London but the network seems like I am in woods with no reception at all. The speed test shows 0.4 mb/s even in outdoor areas. I have my friends who uses other carrier they have at least 10mb/s going with a single bar of 5g. I pay a premium money to EE for this unlimited package. But if this is normal EE coverage at this area, then I will surely end and switch to another provider.

Hi @ChiefBandit

It could be a local network issue, check below:

Thanks

All networks have good and bad coverage areas, EE certainly isn't immune from having poor areas. The premium prices that EE charge, do tend to reflect overall network service.

This should mean that overall poor service areas should be fewer and farther between, and the network should still be more usable in those poor areas than others might be. And that, on the whole, the network is more reliable in more places.

Out of interest, is there anywhere specific in Stoke Newington that you're having issues?

i also live in Stoke Newington, hi Neighbour, over the last few months, i've been doing monthly trials of EE, Vodafone, Lebora, and to be honest they all terrible, well 1 part of Stoke Newington is, i have been around testing speeds in various parts, the area that is the worst for all providers is it seems around church street. If you head towards Hackney downs from Stokey High st, you get great service

I find it weird as the Church street side of Stokey is filled with very expensive property's , it's not like the buildings are any taller, but i will get 1 bar near church st, 5 near the other side of the high st

It's difficult to e certain without me actually being there  but my guess is capacity issues.

In other words there's not enough EE bandwidth to hsnf,e the gazillions of leopard,e trying to use tbe service.

Now I have a  few questions  for uou:

1  What  handset do you own and as importantly which tarrif are you on?

2  Is  the signal strength good or is it poor?

If you  have a modern handset and are on an 'All Rounder'or 'Full Works' tarrif  you should have access to the  new 5G+ Standalone network. Data speeds should,d be considerably enhanced if uou have access to 5G+ . If you are on the basic Essential rarrif then the data speeds are throttled and that may also be the cause of your woes.

Hope this helps.

This thread is coming up for 6months old, and the OP hasn't responded since their first post. That's usually a good sign of either "I can't be bothered" or "it's now resolved", but anyway...

Much depends on your definition of "no reception" - to me, that means zero coverage. But to many users, this means coverage displayed but lack of data speed - probably borne out by the reference to 0.4mbps

As to whether 5GNSA or 5GSA (marketed as 5G+) is potentially quicker, I'm not convinced there's such a binary answer. Multiple CA is more likely to have an impact, alongside dense urban high-band rollout.

The data speeds cited by the OP are far below any throttles that may be applied, so I don't think that's an issue. Essentials are restricted to 100mbps, PAYG 25mbps.

As always thank ypu so much for ypur wonderful,  constructive and positive contribution.

You can blame EE for making that post  near top of the  'Mobile Networks' section if my answer has irritated you !

Not at all, on either point. The thread was bumped courtesy of nibbles2008 on 19th March.

I happen to agree that capacity is the most likely explanation in this case, but I don't believe there's sufficient info to be certain. Nor is there likely to be - the OP hasn't logged into the forum since posting once only. This happens far too often.
