Hello EE community,
I'm having trouble getting my South Korean Samsung S10 5G to work properly on the EE network, particularly with 5G connectivity. I'd appreciate any help or advice from EE staff or knowledgeable users.
My situation:
1. Phone: Samsung S10 5G (South Korean version)
2. 5G Band: NSA/Sub6 (78), which should be compatible with EE's network
3. Current issue: Can't get 5G working, having APN problems
What I've tried so far:
1. Created a custom APN with the following settings: - Name: EE Internet
- APN: everywhere
- MCC: 234
- MNC: 30
- Authentication type: PAP
- Username: eesecure
- Password: secure
- IP Type: IPv4
- APN type: default,supl
2. With MNC set to 30, I can connect to the internet, but I'm not sure if I'm getting optimal 5G performance.
3. When I change MNC to 33 (as advised by EE), the APN I created disappears, and I lose internet connectivity entirely.
Questions:
1. Is there a specific APN setting I should use for a foreign 5G device on the EE network?
2. Why does the APN disappear when I change MNC from 30 to 33?
3. Are there any known issues with foreign 5G devices on the EE network?
4. Do I need to take any additional steps to enable 5G for my specific model?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Contract or PAYG SIM?

Contract

EE's MCC/MNC is 234-30. 33 is the legacy OUK code.
Are you achieving 4G service? Or none at all?

Edge, 3g & 4g services work without issue

Hi @TNS83
Welcome to the community.
It looks like the settings you have entered match our EE APN Settings: Where to find them help page. EE can't guarantee that devices not purchased from us will be fully compatible with the network.
We have some fantastic community members with a brilliant knowledge in these areas. Hopefully someone will be along to support you further soon.

EE's 3G network was switched off nationally during January 2024.
Has this SIM used EE 5G-NR before? N78 is one of EE's 5G bands, but is not available on every site.
Deployment is across 700Mhz, 1800Mhz, 2100Mhz & 3500Mhz and varies by area.

Thank you for the reply, I have never received 5g on this SIM but it was replaced about a year ago with the goal being to get 5g working.
Is there a way to search the compatable sites for me to visit so that I can test that option?

I'd recommend testing the SIM in a known working phone, to ensure it's correctly provisioned for 5G-NR services.
