Hi All,
so i am currently running a 5g ee 2021 router with poynting expol-v2-5g-v3 antenna.
no i have posted a few times on here. the antenna is 2x2 so i am looking at putting another 2x2 antenna to the router as well as the poynting. i have come across one on ebay that claims a 19dbi increase for £75. its not a brand i have heard of. but i am also considering just getting another of what i already have spaced 4m apart on different mounting poles.
so, i have two questions really.
1. does this look any good or too good to be true

2. will adding another antenna make a big difference? i will probably be pointing it at the same mast as well.
if no one is using the internet i get from 75mbs to 125mbs dl and around 20mbs ul but as soon as the kids stat using it then it drops to 20mbs and 15mbs.
i could do with a stable 50mbs for work you see.

sorry to add again.
Has anybody tried the Bluespot Grid Antenna?
Claims to have a massive 30dbi gain!!! is this something you have knowledge of @EssexBoyEE ?
would like your thoughts. i am about to add a bluespot mini this weekend so i'll report how that works out.

You haven't said why or the reason you need to restart the Router?

The Seller appears to be another UK eBay Drop shipper from China, for me, too many inconsistencies within the Items Description. As a Seller of 4/5G Antennas, wheres the support coming from?, look at the Sellers Other Items for Sale.

The Grid Antenna you mention is in effect a Reflective Dish, works on a similar printable to a Satellite Dish, the Gain is from the Signal Refection of the Parabolic Curve of the Dish and not the Antenna, they are extremely Directional and are designed for LOS Rural Areas of poor Coverage.
Downside of this is you are committing the Antenna to Fire in a Single Direction, ie One Mast, where as the 4G Signal could be coming from a particular Mast and the 5G Signal could be coming from another Mast in a different direction, you will need both 4 and 5G Signals for current 5G NR NSA.
Also by using the above Dish Antenna you have ruled out any Fall Back of the Network should the Mast go down where your Antenna is pointing. The whole pinchable of Dish or Parabolic Antennas is they are normally designed for a Single Frequency Band, i.e., Dish Size, Focal Point etc, so the claimed 30gb gain is unlikely to be consistent over todays Cellular Bands covering 700 to 3800mhz which needs to be understood when Installing such Antenna.
Another important factor with Dish Antennas is that they do not always fair well with 2x2 or 4x4 Mimo due to its design.
Lets us know how you get on with the Bluespot Mini, should point out though that this Antenna is designed only for the 5G n78 Band (3.5ghz) and no other 4G or 5G Bands.

Hoping someone here is able to help me, please. I see lots of technical discussion but much of it goes over my head despite a background in network engineering (IP networks).
I have just taken delivery of a 5GEE router. I am getting better performance that I get from my cabled broadband, which is great, but I'd like to maximise my performance. I would like to understand if an external antenna might boost my bandwidth and/or reliability.
I'm getting roughly 35-40Mbps down and 10-12Mbps up on Google's speed test.
My closest tower is "eNB ID 11017 (Macro) - LTE"
The terrain between my house and the tower is fairly flat however there are quite a few houses and trees preventing direct line of sight.
Here's a scrape of my router's Status page:

Just loses internet all together... and then a restart seems to fix it.

Do you know what speeds you get outside the property? An antenna would help bring outdoor coverage indoors.

OK so I was mega excited I had got my 2nd aerial up and just went to plug it in to the ts9 in the back of the router, pulled out the first old one and I noticed a gold thing in the end.......THE TS9 SOCKET IS BROKEN!!!!
Does anyone know where I can get it fixed. I don't believe it. I pulled it out straight and everything. Gutted
