Hi. I'm taking a trip to Kenya in the new year and I was wondering if I will be charged for using Google Messages abroad? Would WhatsApp be a better solution? I will be using both on wifi.
What options would there be for calling from abroad?

Google message works with network and internet. It is RCS chat based. So by any chance, if it does not get the internet it will used sms service of network that may cost you a lot. Whatsapp will be your best option for sending text and calling over wifi. Thank you.

@PhilG65 text RO Kenya to 150to see what your options are. Both the options that you mention use data be that cellular data or when you’re connected via Wi-Fi. Both are internet based.
Anything that goes via cellular data will cost you and you’ll need a cellular data add on for that.

I'm not sure the text service lists data costs, only voice & text. The website tool gives a link to add-ons costs that would cover usage of mobile-network-data. WiFi does not involve EE.
