The contract on my tablet is just finishing. Forgive the stupid question, but can I now end the contract and still be able to access the internet? or do I have to pay for a SIM/new contract?
Many thanks!

If you cancel the contract that would also cancel the data plan (4G/5G connection), but you would still be able to use it on a WiFi connection.
You could look to upgrade it to a Data SIM plan instead of cancelling if you wanted to maintain that functionality.

Upgrade to a SIM-Only contract.

Popular misconception. Your contract is not finishing, your minimum term is. Unless you explicitly give cancellation notice, your contract will continue on the exact same basis it is now.
If you want to reduce the cost once you're outside minimum term, then change your plan to a SIM-only one. If you want to continue as you are, do so.

With the tablet contracts you get from EE they are all connected products, so you can use the tablet both on your WiFi and also when you're out and about as it comes with a SIM Card for using 4G on it.
If you never used this, don't worry about it, you can just cancel the contract by calling EE and you'll be able to keep using the tablet as you normally do on WiFi.

If you only want to connect to WiFi in your home (& out) then go ahead & call CS & cancel your contract with 30-days notice.
Even with a non-working or no SIM your tablet will continue to connect to any WiFi.
