New Sim speed is supposed to be uncapped , but is being capped a 100mbps

I've just received a new Sim on the All rounder plan which is supposed to be uncapped data speed. However download speeds are being capped at 100mbps so far in the first 24 hours of use.

Its definitely capped - as I have 2 other EE sims that are delivering over 200mbps in the same devices/ house.

I wondered whether they are they delivered initially capped or something, or is this an error somewhere with my plan setup?

Hi @Andyapp

Welcome to the Community!

You are quite right; our No Frills and Essentials plans do have capped speeds, however, this should not be the case for your All Rounder plan. I'd recommend giving our team a call, and they can take a look into why this is happening, and help you to get this sorted.

I’m just another user, and relatively new to EE, and believe they offer unlimited data plans, but speed throttled. Are we confusing the two here? Apologies if not.

To me it’s like saying you can use all the water you want, but it’ll only come out of the tap 1 drop at a time🤷🏼

Never heard of speed throttling before moving your EE.

They offer both, there is capped & unlimited data usage limit (although I understand unlimited actually means 600gb a month), but also  uncapped max speed and limited speeds - all for different monthly prices..  I have bought an uncapped speed deliberately. But at the moment, its definiately capped at 100mbps speed.  Its probably a call to Customer services.

I just wondered whether others had experienced this when first receiving their sims?

I have just received an unlimited no frills SIM and whilst I understand they're capped to 10mbps. I am not achieving over 1mbps and often times 0.1.

My friend with the same device in the same place on EE is getting hundreds of megs.

Why is my speed 100 times slower than the cap ?

Hi there @Callumcrane

Thanks for coming to the community.

Do you have the same speeds in all areas?

If so, please get in in touch with our tech guides on 150 and they can get the speeds looked into for you.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

@Callumcrane   Have you closed all apps fully so nothing is running in the background?   If anything is working in the background it’s also using data so it’ll affect the test.   And with a 10Meg speed you’ll notice this a lot.

Hey guys need your help , my contract is ending 6 November and going on sim only , was on phone contract uncapped data. EE can’t offer me good deal regarding EU roaming and uncapped just £29 while £31 is all rounder. They offered me £14 unlimited data , EU roaming but capped speeds at 100mbps. Think now if i should go with the offer as would still like to stay with EE because they have better signal and coverage. Was thinking of Mozillion or 1p mobile but them piggy back of EE might not be the same quality in speed or service , they both do offer EU roaming and uncapped speeds. Out of the 2 Mozillion is cheapest £19 monthly sim 30 days rolling. Playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation sometimes I come across booters so when they shut down your internet then I use my phone as hotspot and turn on vpn that I’ve got so will I notice the speed coming from uncapped to capped speeds. In my room on second floor can get around 300mbps , first floor living room not as great.
