My WiFi and friends hotspots (02 and giffgaff) work fine with the portal and we all have iPhones. On another forum somebody suggested downloading an ee APN IPV4 from GitHub which I did. It now lets me connect my hotspot but I now get an error when trying to connect to my ps5 with the portal (sorry, but something went wrong)

Hi there @XydocX
Thanks for coming to the community.
Have you tried the tips in the How to troubleshoot issues on your PS Portal (UK) (playstation.com) page?
Leanne.

Hello,
Yes I have, I have also talked to them in their live customer service page and they explained that it has to do with something on your end since it works with my Wi-Fi and other providers hotspots.
They also said that yous may provide less than a 5ghz speed for hotspot although the portal needs a 5ghz speed to work. I am on a plan with unlimited data, texts and minutes.

Thanks for the extra details @XydocX
Have you spoken to our tech guides to get this looked into?
Leanne.

Did you get any solution to this as I’m struggling with the same problem

I found out that the portal requires a 5ghz connection and ee provides a 2.5ghz data connection. I haven’t found a solution yet though. And don’t know if there is one, I haven’t called ee yet but I’m planning to.

Thanks for joining us on Community @Bradyoung
The 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz refer to the WIFI bands that is being used by the devices- it's the router, or in this case the mobile device, which dictates which band it's transmitting at.
If you are using a mobile device as a hotspot, you can go into your device Hotspot settings and manually set the band that you'd like to transmit.
For most androids it will be found in Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and tethering
For iPhones it's usually set to 5Ghz as default, but you'll find it at settings > Personal Hotspot > Maximise Compatibility (set this to off)
Let me know if this works for you
