It seems this happens when the data of a device goes to zero. You can either mess about ringing EE, or, buy 100Mb for £1.38 or so, then you can gift data as normal (You may need to switch on 'allow data add on').
Obviously to avoid happening in the future, try to gift data before it goes to 0Mb!
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Yes it is the same error. Like I said above, the solution worked for me by buying 100Mb and then I could gift data as normal. Alternatively ring EE and tell them to add some data to allow you to gift data.
EE should still resolve this glitch as it is a work around. Especially for a glitch where gifting data is usually when the other person has run out!

Interesting, I think I may have had this happen to me. Is this the error you receive?

Hi @Robert139 @HIO
I know it's frustrating when things aren't working as they should be.
Is this happening when logged into the EE app, your main online account, or both?
Have you been able to successfully gift between these numbers before without errors occurring?

Just the App. Please see my experience in this post: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Mobile-Data/Data-sharing/m-p/1484164#M158624

Thanks @Robert139
And what happens when you try to data gift through your main online account rather than using the app?

As of right now, via the website, this happens:
Last week, via the app, it was this:
Last night, via the app, it was this:

@Robert139 the app and your online account are the same thing as the app is just a link to your online account. You’re going to need to call customer support and request an account reset as accounts are not offline.

I just tried calling 150 but the Visual Menu website isn't loading, so I can't speak to anyone! This happened all last night as well. 😫 This forum is really my last resort.

They did mention that I should look to gift data before I run out, as a solution, but it's ridiculous to expect us to constantly monitor our data - especially when that used to be done manually. Blur were right, modern life is rubbish.
