I have received a large bill this month which would appear to be due to data roaming fees. Am I correct in thinking that my roaming charges continue even when I’m not abroad?
What makes you think the bill is due to data roaming?
Any billing add-ons you've chosen will continue until they expire or you cancel them - but normal roaming charges only apply when you use your phone abroad.
