Hi,
I recently switched data sims on my TP link router from another provider to EE. The router provides wireless signal to my laptop, a notepad, an android TV and two mobile phones. All I have done is switched the cards. Everything else is the same. I now have an internet speed akin to the old dial up routers of years ago without the cute noises! Any ideas folks? We don't live in a built up area. Our nearest neighbour is a mile away.

Hi @Shar39
Thanks for coming to the community.
Are you able to try the EE SIM card in another device to see if you have the same data speeds?
Does the Service Status Checker, show any reported problems in the area?

Hi Leanne, unfortunately, I only have the one mobile broadband router, don't know if a data sim would work in a mobile phone. The Service Status Checker states does not accommodate mobile broadband routers unfortunately, but does say they are trying to improve signal in the area. This problem has been evident since I installed the card on 10th June, 2024. I have tried turning all devices off and only used laptop. Still the same.

The SIM would work in an EE or unlocked phone, @Shar39. It would be a good test to see what happens, if you're able to try.
The coverage checker is for the mobile network, which is what mobile broadband routers use. It could be related to those maintenance works and could improve once they're completed.

Hi Christopher,
I will try this with my mobile tomorrow. My phone is unlocked. I only said the coverage checker covers mobile phones as those are the only ones covered in the drop down menu. There is no option for mobile broadband routers. Will let you know how it goes.
Cheers

Much the same in mobile phone unfortunately. Do you think it is worth troubling the tech guys and if I do will I need to cable up my laptop to the router?

Just a thank you to everybody about this problem. It appears that work was carried out by EE in the area - I don't know what, but it seems to have resolved my problem. My current speed (according to Windows 10)ranges between 150Mbps to 180Mbps and I couldn't be more pleased. Great job.👍😀
