Hi there,

I wish this worked for me, but I wasn't given a phone number with my EE sim or 4GEE device. Any idea how I can find this out?

Regards,

Adam

@Adzam016 : You would've been on its packaging.

Text NUMBER to 150 from it.

Ah yes it was on the sleeve that we forgot existed. Realised this after I found it online lol!

Problem now, is EE website is saying its down for maintenence. This whole process has been a joke. I only bought this so I could use EE 4G when my O2 phone isn't getting a good signal for making a hotspot. I have been quickly reminded why I switched to O2 in the first place. I never have any trouble with O2 website, app or other services. Everything just works, and I get O2 Priority thrown in.

I am supposed to be able to top up via my phone wifi page. Does not work.

I am supposed to be able to top up from EE webpage. Does not work.

I tried the Fast Top Up page shared above. ALSO DOES NOT WORK!

I am gonna be returning this piece of trash tomorrow if I still cannot top up.

EE you are absolute jokers, fix your services!

Hi @Adzam016

Thanks for posting.

Can you make the payment this morning using the fast payment site

Leanne.

Hi Leanne,

Thanks for your reply, but fast payment page doesn't really help as I am trying to buy a 60GB data bundle from the add ons page. Still won't let me.

Says I need to register. When I get to third page of registering, it states I must connect to 4GEE and log in. Then nothing happens at all. Very frustrating!

Hi @Adzam016

Do you have credit on the account to purchase the data add-on?

Leanne.

No, didn't realise I needed to top up then buy the add on but I can't top up either as I cannot add the number to my EE account. It just takes me to a page where it says "We know this is a 4GEE device". From there it asks me to connect to my device then log in. At this stage, nothing happens. I also can't get the fast top up page to work.

This service is pretty hopeless!

MyEE doesn't work for registering PAYG MBB devices or at least those with data SIMs. It stops at telling you to connect your device & login to it, but when you've done as instructed it doesn't have anywhere for you to say you've done it.

You may continue using your device but you just can't register it to MyEE.

  1. Use Fast Top Up online with a UK bank card. You don't need to login or register anything. All you need is your mobile no.
  2. Go to http://add-on.ee.co.uk/status from the device will tell you your usage.
  3. Go to http://add-on.ee.co.uk/purchase from the device to buy add-ons.

These should still work.

Hi Leanne,

Thank you so much for all you advice and support. After using multiple workarounds, I have now managed to get topped up. I WILL SHARE HOW I GOT IT WORLIMG BELOW! However, I hope EE support staff will read this and realise that this service desperately needs updating/fixing ASAP to avoid losing customers, as I almost gave up and returned it!

This was all done on a Google Pixel 6 Pro on the O2 network. Other phones/networks may be a little different, so keep that in mind!

Step 1 - REGISTER WITH EE IMMEDIATELY WHILST YOU STILL HAVE DATA! This is damn near impossible to do if you let your 4GEE run out before you have registered, ESPECIALLY if your phone is on another network! If you did not do this, you will need to go to step 2.if you complete step 1, you should be golden! Just make sure you're connected to your 4GEE when registering 🙂

Step 2 - You are now in the same boat as me, and it's a little fiddly getting this to work. First off, go to this link https://myaccount.ee.co.uk/fast-payment-payg/  This will allow you to put money on your 4GEE device. You cannot purchase an addon unless you have topped up with the desired amount to match the addon you require.

Step 3 - Once in this link, the captcha will not appear as you need Internet for it to work, so make sure you are using another Internet connection so that the captcha appears. THE CAPTCHA WILL NOT APPEAR IF YOU ARE CONNECTED TO YOUR 4GEE AND IT HAD NO DATA! CRAZY, I KNOW!

Step 4 - Keep following through the fast payment and put in your payment details, billing address etc

Step 5 - Now the fun part! Connect to your 4GEE device and your phone/computer should ask you to log in. My phone gave an error message but showed the Web link it was trying to connect to. If you don't get an error, simply buy your addon. If, like me it errors, copy and paste the link shown on the error page into your browser. You should now be able to purchase your addon.

Step 6 - When you buy the addon (or at least when I did) it will seem to hang forever and never load. Quickly turn your WiFi off, and you should now see a message saying that your addon was purchased successfully.

You should now be good to go, and yes, I know this is silly and frustrating and I sincerely hope EE improves this process for other 4GEE customers.

The device and 4G connection itself are pretty solid, it's just the top up process that is bonkers!

Please EE, make this process easier! I am a complete tech nerd and I found this very difficult to do, so I can't imagine how someone less tech savvy would manage!

If none of this works for you, maybe try using your top up card that came with your 4GEE device and then go to step 5 of my advice. Failing that, call the number Leanne provided above, and prepare to be on hold for quite some time!

I hope that this advice can help someone else. It took me 3 damn days on and off to get this working, probably 6 attempts in total, so be patient and try not to throw your 4GEE out the window.
