Mobile Router Issues

Flockminder

We have been EE customers for some time and living in a rural area have to use mobile broadband using an EE 4G router. In the past 9 months or so we have had to have the router replaced 3 times - the last one being at the end of last year. Here we are in February and the preformance has dropped off again and we now spennd as much time with no internet as with it and when it is working the heady days of 25Mbps are a fading memory. Every time I have been to our EE local store I get the same old guff that it one of the two masts that serve our area is down for upgrade (over a year now and no progress on that one) and the other mast is dodgy!! No mention of that when we signed our contract!

To help persuade our local store that the problem is the router I bought a second one (Huawei) with an EE SIM. They sit a few feet apart in our upstairs and guess what. My EE router says very slow or no internet, my Huawei router has good speed and no interruptions. My conclusion - the EE router is unreliable and EE probably knows this. I am just so disappointed that EE seems unable or unwilling to acknowledge the problem with these routers. We are now exploring the satellite option even though it is more expensive. It will be worth it to stop banging my head against the EE brick wall.

Hi @Flockminder,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you're having speed issues with your EE router.

Please get in touch with Technical Support so a member of the team can run through some diagnostics with you.

They'll be happy to help.

Out of interest, what's the reason for wanting to use the EE router if you have reliable service from another one?

There are two reasons for our use of a second router. Firstly we have a long barn conversion and we struggle to get a good signal through the length of the building so a second router helps there. Secondly we wanted to have a second router to compare against the EE router. This has been particularly illuminating as it has shown that the EE router falls short in performance.
